Woodland Park man arrested on drug dealing, weapons charges
A borough man has been arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs near his home at the Wedgewood Knolls condominium complex off of Lackawanna Avenue, police said.
Jonathan Vitaletti, 30, was arrested on May 29, on charges of heroin distribution, possession of heroin, possession of a large knife, possession of hypodermic needles, possession of a pellet gun, possession of handcuffs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, police said in a statement.
While working with the Bergen and Passaic County Joint Heroin Task Force, Woodland Park Police Detective Carlo Renne observed Vitaletti‘s home for several hours during which time he saw the man deal drugs several times in the area, police said.
Police obtained a search warrant for Vitaletti‘s vehicle, his home and then searched the two at about 11:30 a.m. that day, according to police.
Authorities had watched Vitaletti leave his residence in his vehicle at about 10 a.m. at which time officers set up extensive surveillance in the area and waited for his return. When Vitaletti returned about an hour later, Detective Sgt. John Uzzalino of the Woodland Park police department stopped him in his vehicle, police said.
Police found a brick of heroin on Vitaletti, and a bag or marijuana in the vehicle. Police arrested Vitaletti and searched his home where they found heroin and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Vitaletti was arraigned in Little Falls Municipal Court then transported to the Passaic County Jail until he posted $3,500 bail on May 30. Vitaletti is awaiting a June 19 hearing in Passaic County Superior Court.
