Manhattan Madam Kristin Davis , city controller candidate, charged in prescription pill sales
Manhattan madam and political longshot Kristin Davis – who says she provided call girls to Eliot Spitzer – was arraigned Tuesday on four counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
She could be sentenced to up to 80 years in prison if convicted of dealing prescription pills.
Davis, a trailing city controller candidate and nemesis of ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer, was sprung on $100,000 bond Tuesday after her bust for illegally peddling prescription pills to an FBI informant.
Her product included amphetamines, oxycodone and muscle relaxants, often used as date-rape drugs – but no Viagra, officials said. She allegedly sometimes provided the drugs at house parties.
The haggard hooker, her unkempt bottle-blond hair tied in a ponytail, kept her mouth shut tight as she bolted Manhattan Federal Court with her attorney.
Lawyer Daniel Hochheiser said his client would plead not guilty to the four counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
He dismissed the detailed, 15-page court filing as “a hearsay complaint based on the unsworn statements of an admitted drug dealer seeking leniency.”
But authorities said Davis‘ repeated deals with the undercover were captured on audio and video recordings. Court records show investigators also uncovered chatty text messages between the two.
“THANK U 4 coming!!” the informant texted Jan. 9, two days after authorities say Davis sold him 215 pills for $675 cash.
“If u run low let me kno!!! Ur the best!” responded a chipper Davis.
Davis, 38, has long maintained that her client list included Spitzer, whose Washington rendezvous with another prostitute forced his resignation.
Davis boasts on her website about running a prostitution ring with 30,000 customers – including bold-faced names from the worlds of politics, sports and entertainment.
She served nearly four months on Rikers Island in 2008 after her arrest for heading the high-end operation.
Prominent political consultant Roger Stone, who has worked with Davis, said the arrest signaled the end of the controller candidate’s election hopes.
“I am stunned and disappointed,” he tweeted. “I am hopeful the charges are untrue. I would urge her to end her campaign.”
If convicted, Davis could face up to 80 years in prison. She was arrested Monday at her home on the upper East Side, and is due back in court Sept. 5.
“As alleged, Kristin Davis sold dangerous and highly addictive prescription pills to a known drug dealer on repeated occasions,” said U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
She is charged with selling the pills on three separate occasions to an unidentified dealer working as an FBI undercover, authorities said.
On a fourth occasion, she arranged for a middle man to sell 180 oxycodone pills to the dealer, officials said. She was also charged with selling amphetamines, muscle relaxants and other drugs.
The sales occurred between Jan. 7 and April 24.
Her opponents for Controller, Scott Stringer and Spitzer, both declined comment on the arrest – and Davis refused to answer questions about the ongoing race.
Spitzer has denied hiring hookers from Davis’ operation.
