MCSO seizes more than 20 pounds of marijuana
On Thursday, May 9 the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men after deputies seized 20 pounds of marijuana, synthetic spice and $900 cash.
Officers followed Derick Jackson of Mobile and Larry Ford of Dothan to Peach Place Inn on Jeff Hamilton Road.
“During surveillance the narcotics deputy witnessed one of the men removing the marijuana from the car and taking it to the apartment,” said Lori Myles, public information officer for the MCSO.
According to officials, Ford left the apartment to return a rental car and Jackson followed in another vehicle.
“He (the narcotics deputy) waited until they got into their vehicles then pulled them over,” Myles said.
MCSO deputies stopped the rental car that Ford was driving along Leroy Stevens Road, however Jackson fled in his vehicle. The sheriff’s office K-9 unit was called and captured the suspect in a wooded area off of Grelot Road.
Jackson, according to the MCSO, sustained several bites and was treated and released to Mobile Metro Jail.
Earlier in the week MCSO received information from the Dothan Police Department about Jackson and Ford participating in trafficking marijuana.
Jail records show Jackson and Ford, who were booked into Metro Jail Thursday night, are charged with the use and possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and trafficking marijuana.
